Wife fell and broke her leg, ankle and foot recently. She can’t do much on one leg and zimmer frame so most of each day is taken up with me trying to be a nurse and doing all the shopping, washing, cooking, cleaning etc.
Not taking on any more work or answering the phone or replying to anyone until life at home gets back to normal.
Update – another couple of weeks and things should be ok again I hope!

Work already discussed or completed
To arrange when to deliver a repair or when to collect a completed repair you can leave a message on any day at any time but please give a normal landline number and times I can contact you e.g. the latest time of night you don’t mind getting a call.

Please don’t leave messages asking how your repair is progressing.
The repair queue gets delayed a bit more each time I have to reply to someone about this.
I will contact you when your job is ready.

New repair enquiries – please read before telephoning
First, make sure you know the Make and Model number of the product you need repaired
and then read my HOME page to see if I do repair what you have.
You can ring most (but not all) Monday mornings between 10am and 1pm approx.
If the Monday is a Bank Holiday, I’m on holiday too so please ring the following week.
Sometimes I skip a Monday if I’m too busy to take on any new work.
The answerphone comes in immediately if I’m already on the phone.
PLEASE do not leave a message but try again after 5 or 10 minutes.

We need to talk and it is unlikely that I will have time to call you back.
I do not call back to mobiles – see note further down the page.

Basic information required from you – please read before telephoning
I need the Make AND the Model AND a good description of the problem.
UK: If you can’t get through, it is helpful if you wait until the following Monday and try again – there is only a certain amount of work I can manage in a week.
If you feel you have to leave a message on a Monday, please leave your daytime and evening phone numbers (normal landline numbers if you want me to call you) and the latest time of night you don’t mind getting a telephone call.
Please give your number slowly and clearly and repeat it.
PLEASE don’t leave messages on other days as they will probably be ignored.
Messages which do not give the basic information required will definitely be ignored!
For UK repair enquiries I will call landline numbers but would rather not email simply because it takes so much longer than talking!

Please try telephoning on a Monday but you can also leave your email address on my answerphone on ANY DAY at any time of the day or night.
Use the “PHONETIC ALPHABET” below and repeat it so I can be sure of getting it right!
If the connection is bad, some parts of your message may be impossible to hear clearly.
If you get no reply within a day or two please ring and leave your email address again.

Mobiles – I will call back to normal UK landline numbers but not to mobiles.
It’s too expensive and very often the signal is so bad you can’t have a conversation anyway.
If time I might send a text from the computer asking you to call back.
If I send you a text from the computer you might see a mobile number.
DON’T ring or text this.  It won’t work.  It’s switched off.  There is no signal here!

My address – I will give you my address if you want to bring or send something for repair.
I don’t put my postal address or email address on my website.  This is to avoid enquiries by letter or email (discussing things by telephone is much quicker) and also to prevent customers from just turning up on my doorstep when they feel like it!
Visits to deliver and collect repairs are by arrangement only to save you wasted journeys.
I’m here most of the time but not all of the time.

Payment method update
For goods being collected from me I no longer accept payment by cheque unless you send a cheque in advance and wait until it has cleared.
Otherwise payment must be by cash on collection or by bank transfer prior to collection.
For on-site work, payment must be made in cash or by immediate bank transfer.
I apologise for any inconvenience caused by this.
For goods posted to me, I will contact you as usual for payment before returning your goods.

Goods here for repair are at your own risk entirely as they are not insured for any eventuality.
Goods here for repair will be sold or disposed of if there has been no word from the owner for 6 months.
